Abstract
The most common symptom of inguinal hernias is swelling of the inguinal region. However, this symptom may occur in other diseases, such as cancer, undescended testis, hydrocele, and varicocele. Choice of treatment depends on the diagnosis, and the use of preoperative ultrasound facilitates important differential diagnosis. Patients who have been diagnosed with inguinal hernia, hydrocele, undescended testis, benign tumor, and varicocele should undergo surgical treatment. A biopsy should be performed and analyzed prior to surgery for patients suspected of malignancy. This study compared the preoperative ultrasonographic findings in cases of inguinal hernia, tumors, undescended testis, hydrocele, and varicocele.
